Carolyn Phillips Haggard, 71, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 3 PM, Friday, January 24, 2020, at Arbor Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. Interment will follow in the Arbor Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 3 PM, at the church.
Mrs. Haggard was born March 27, 1948, in Treutlen County, Georgia, to the late Hoover Phillips & Annie Mae Maddox Phillips. She moved to the community in 1965 and was a homemaker. Mrs. Haggard enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, shopping, crocheting, making ceramics, working puzzles and reading mystery books. She was a member of Arbor Baptist Church for 40 years and volunteered for Vacation Bible School and was a member of the Lois Hobby Sunday school class.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John Haggard of Fitzgerald; three sons and their spouses: Ricky & Kari Haggard, Michael & Helen Haggard and Scott & Kerri Haggard, all of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Steven Kirkland, Steven Haggard, Nikki Haggard, Courtney Haggard, Kalli Kirkland and Hallie Haggard; a sister, Loretha Edenfield & Larry of Vidalia and a brother Woodrow “PeeWee” Phillips & Linda of Soperton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Marty Phillips.
