Obituary

Hiram - Michael Dean Cram, 67, of Hiram died at his home on January 20, 2020 after a long illness. He was born in Portland on August 31, 1952 a son of Vernon and Caroline (Sanborn) Cram. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Sacopee Valley High School in South Hiram. He married Sally Sprague on August 31, 1985.

In his younger days he worked as a disc jockey for WPOR in Portland and WOXO in Norway. He was known as the "Hiram Hillbilly" and went by Micheal Dean on the air. He later worked as a truck driver for many years ending his career driving for Poland Spring.

He enjoyed hunting as well as cutting and chopping his own firewood. He loved music and singing, and he had a great sense of humor and was well known as a practical joker. Above all he loved his wife, kids and grandkids and will be sadly missed by all who loved him.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his son, Michael D. Cram II. Surviving are his wife, Sally Cram of Hiram. 3 children: Clint Cram of Hiram, Jere Cram and wife Joy of Norway, and Eva Cram and fiance Peter Emery of Hiram. 2 siblings, Dwight Cram and wife Elizabeth of Phillips, and Brenda Michaud and husband Michael of Falmouth. 3 grandchildren: Zachary Whitmore, Caleb Cram and Mikaela Emery. A great grandson, Liam Whitmore, and many loving nieces. nephews, cousins, an aunt and an uncle.

Visiting hours will be on Saturday, January 25, from 12 to 2 p.m. immediately followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. all at the Hiram Arts Center, 8 Hancock Ave., Hiram. Rev. Mark Rustin will officiate. A reception will follow downstairs. Arrangements are respectfully handled by Poitras, Neal and York Funeral Home.
