Obituary

Michael A. Chase, 62, of New Bedford passed away Friday January 17, 2020 after a period of declining health.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Edith (Lawrence) Chase and Manuel “Rocco” Martin, he was raised in Dartmouth and lived in New Bedford for most of his life.

Michael was formerly employed as a truck driver.

He had been a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Loyal Order of Moose, and the Lynchmen Motorcycle Club. A very outgoing and friendly person, he immediately connected with everyone he met. He made every encounter with him meaningful. He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with family.

He is survived by his children, Angela Harris, Kerrie (Chase) Pina, Michael Chase, Jr., Warren Chase, and Lacie Charette and her husband Jason; his siblings, Melvin Chase, Manny Chase and his wife Barbara, Daniel “Dynamite” Chase, Robert Chase, Debbie deMelo and her husband Manny, Judy Luiz, and Caroline Weeks; his grandchildren, Kayla, Kyle, Jason, Myles, Briana, Christopher, Ryan, Kaylin, Jaxson, Evan, Liliahna, Destiney, and Victoria; his great-grandchildren, Aria, Aven, and Jason Jr.; his former wife, Barbara Harris; his sisters-in-law, Linda Chase, Rosie DeTerra, Kellie Medeiros, and Joan Martin; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Ernie Tavares, Gilly Martin, Barry Martin, and Ronnie Martin, his sisters-in-law, Donna Chase and Sandy Harris, and his former wife, Luci Rodrigues.

His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday January 22, 2020 at 9 AM at the Hope Evangelical Church, 88 Hathaway Rd., Dartmouth. Burial will follow in Acushnet Cemetery. Visiting hours will be at the Hope Evangelical Church on Tuesday January 21, 2020 from 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Hope Evangelical Church.
