New Bedford –Maria C. (Pavao) Medeiros, age 99 of Dartmouth, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth . She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel P. Medeiros and the daughter of the late Joao Pavao Araujo and Antonia Amelia (Pavao) Araujo.
She was born in St. Michael, Azores, Portugal and had worked as a stitcher at Paul Modes.
She is survived by her 2 children; Margaret Diogenes of S. Dartmouth and Manuel P. Medeiros of Freetown 3 sisters; Odelia Aguiar of New Bedford and the late Amelia Araujo and Aida Oliveira, 3 grandchildren: Eddy Diogenes, Kerri Lynn Medeiros, and Jared Medeiros ; 6 great grandchildren; Brooke Diogenes, Edward Diogenes Jr., Kourtney Souza, Kameron Souza, Kaitlin Souza and Lilah Medeiros; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend her visiting hours on Wednesday, January 22 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be Thursday, January 23 in the funeral home at 8:00 AM with a mass of Christian burial at 9:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Burial will follow immediately at St. John Cemetery.
