Daniel Shea, of Newton formerly of Gortmaloon East, Glencar County Kerry Ireland, died Wed Feb. 1, 2006 at the Mass General Hospital in Boston. He was 78.
Born in Ireland he came to the U.S. in 1949. He served with the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was discharged as a corporal. He worked as a custodian for the Newton Public Schools and retired after 38 years.
Beloved husband of the late Catherine Frances (McPartlin) Shea, he is survived by his children Mary C. and her husband George A. Pangakis of Billerica, Daniel Shea and his wife Maura of Medway, Michael Shea and his wife Jaime of Ashland, Kathleen and her husband John Lacerra of Framingham, Theresa and her husband Bob Sampson of Newton, Jean M. Shea and Margaret Shea both of Newton. He was the father of the late Patrick Shea and was predeceased by 3 brothers and 4 sisters. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will gather at the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 centre St. Newton Corner on Sat Feb 4 at 9:30 AM and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady Help of Christians Church at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery. Visiting hours will be in the funeral home on Thurs from 7-9 and Fri 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
