Fairhaven – Michael L. Furtado, 50, of Fairhaven passed away on January 3, 2020 at Vibra Hospital following a valiant battle with a Traumatic Brain Injury.
Mr. Furtado was born in New Bedford, son of Louise Furtado Gomes of Fairhaven and the late Ernest Furtado. He was employed as a pest control technician by Ultra Safe Pest Management until becoming disabled.
In his free time, Michael was first hand in his daily life, enjoyed being outdoors and time spent with his beloved dogs. He was an avid lover of animals and devoted much of his time rehabilitating animals.
Mike will be remembered for his love of his motorcycle and the open road. He was especially fond of long rides with no destination with Judas Priest blaring in the background.
Michael was the father of Adam Furtado of Fairhaven and Haley Furtado and her boyfriend Joshua Myers of East Bridgewater. He was the brother of LuAnn Melanson of Fairhaven, Kathleen Furtado of Greenfield, Deborah Oliveira of Fairhaven and Ernest Furtado, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of New Bedford.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation at the Kirby Funeral Home, 61 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford on Saturday, January 18, 2020, 10:00-11:30 A.M. followed immediately by a Memorial Service at 11:30 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fairhaven Animal Shelter, 200 Bridge Street, Fairhaven, MA 02719
Burial will be private.
