Obituary

Parsonsfield - Delma L. "Tinker" Smith Jr., 84, of Parsonsfield died on January 7, 2020 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland after a long illness. He was born in South Hiram on December 28, 1935 a son of Delma Smith Sr. and Ina (Frost) Smith. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Porter High School in 1954.

As a young man he worked in at a woolen mill in Ashland, New Hampshire for a few years. He then proudly served in the U.S. Army as an M.P. and was stationed in Germany, where he met his beloved wife, Liselotte "Lotte" Erny. He and Lotte were married on June 9, 1961.

Tinker then worked for Vulcan Electric in Kezar Falls for almost 22 years. He later worked for Sears at the Maine Mall, mostly in appliance sales, for several years until his retirement. In his spare time he enjoyed golf, woodworking and tending his garden. He also belonged to the Porter High School Alumni Association.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by two brothers, Paul and John Smith, and two sisters, Catherine Grant and Rae Chase. Surviving are his wife, Lotte Smith of Parsonsfield. A sister, Geraldine Smith and husband Bruce of Cornish. A brother, Steven Smith and wife Mona of Cornish, as well as several nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by all who loved him.
