James Edward “YO” Gutierrez, 69 of Oxnard, CA, passed away on January 6th, 2020 in his home. James was born in Phoenix, AZ, to Frances & Ted Gutierrez on March 3rd, 1950. He went to Cortez High and graduated in 1968. He went on to earn a degree in agriculture. He enjoyed decades of playing softball, but his love was racquetball. He traveled the world playing in racquetball tournaments and was sponsored by Ektelon. He received numerous awards and medals throughout the years.
James is survived by his wife: Veronica Prado Gutierrez of Oxnard. His Daughters: Tracy Sunshine Gutierrez, Kristi Michele Pujol (Son in Law: Kristian Michel Pujol) and Maggie De La Selva all of Oxnard. His son: James Alexander Gutierrez of Oxnard. His siblings: Mary Jean Nunez and Ted “Junior” Gutierrez both of AZ. His grandchildren: Niko De La Selva, Josiah De La Selva, James Isiah Gutierrez, Drake Matthew Gutierrez, Elias Gene Pujol and Isaak Dane Pujol – all of Oxnard. His nephews: Joseph Gutierrez, Anthony Nunez and Gabriel Nunez all of AZ. He is preceded in death by his parents: Frances & Ted Gutierrez of Oxnard. His brother: Joseph Gutierrez of AZ.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by Fr. Altaire Fernandez on Friday January 24, 2020 at 10am in Santa Clara Roman Catholic Church, 323 South E Street Oxnard. Military Honors will be rendered after Mass.
