Charles Edward Roberson, Sr., 92, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, January 9, 2020, at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, January 11, 2020, at Little Memorial Baptist Church in the Browntown community of Brantley County, Georgia, with the Rev. Keith Brown officiating. Interment will be held at 3 PM, Saturday in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, Georgia with the Rev. B.J. Funk officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday morning.
Mr. Roberson was born February 13, 1927, in Brunswick, Georgia, to the late Milton & Edith McGraw Roberson. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Roberson worked as a maintenance mechanic for Gilman Paper Company in St. Marys. He moved to Fitzgerald in 2005 after residing in St. Marys for over 50 years. Following the death of his wife in 2013, he returned to Glynn County. He was an Emeritus member of St. Marys Lodge #109, F.&A.M., where he was a Past Worshipful Master. He was also a member of Morocco Shrine in Jacksonville, Florida. He loved baseball and enjoyed woodworking. Mr. Roberson was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Fitzgerald.
He is survived by son, Charles E. “Ed” (Annette) Roberson, Jr., of Woodbine; daughter, Regina (Roger) Blauvelt of Brunswick; son, Steven Keith (Elizabeth) Roberson of Crescent; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Ruth (Bud) Jones of Nahunta. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Batton Roberson and a daughter, Cynthia Ann Roberson.
