SOMERSET – Maria da Conceição (Da Silva) Da Luz, age 70, better known as “Connie”, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020 with her loving family by her side. Born in Ribeira Chã, São Miguel, Açores, Maria was the daughter of the late Manuel Da Silva and the late Maria da Conceição (Tavares) Da Silva. She was the beloved wife of 51 years to Jose Luis Da Luz.
Prior to retiring, Connie worked as a Machine Operator for Quaker Fabric Co.
She loved to do gardening and was a great cook. Most of all, Connie loved to spend quality time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband of Somerset, survivors include her children: Elena C. (Da Luz) Costa (husband Russell), Gorete Da Luz, and Luis M. Da Luz (wife Annalisa) all of Somerset; siblings: Maria Jose Carvalho of Canada, Lillian Casado of Açores, Portugal, and João Manuel Silva of Canada; grandchildren: Justin, Zachary, Sean, Benjamin, Mychelle, Christine, & Lorenzo; nieces & nephews.
Connie’s funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Monday, Jan 13th here at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian in St. Patrick’s Church, South St., Somerset at 10:00 a.m. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery.
