Steven Chaves of Somerville died on Monday, January 6, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital in New Hampshire. Born and raised in Cambridge, he was the beloved son of Antonio and Maria DeChaves. Steven was the devoted father of Melanie, Steven Jr., Amy and Joey Chaves, and is survived by their mother Karina, his sister Sandra Almeida and her husband Mario of Tewksbury, and their children Daniela, Alexandre, Antonio and Mariana Almeida. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Friday, January 10 followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Benedict Church, 21 Hathorne St., Somerville, at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with family from 8:30 AM through 11 AM in the funeral home. Interment will be private.
