Patricia Vara Appleby of Melrose died on Monday, January 6, at Brigham and Women's Hospital of Boston. Born and raised in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Helen (Loguidice) Vara. Patricia was a resident of Melrose for the past 32 years, and was employed as a property manager. She loved her family and friends, going to the beach, taking long walks with her beloved dog Ruby, and going to the gym.
Patricia was the beloved wife of 29 years to Paul Appleby, and the devoted mother of Patrick Appleby of Wilmington and Daniel Appleby of Melrose. She was the dear sister of Carol Vara of Niantic, CT and her late husband Ned E. Kardys, and Emma Gennaro and her husband Thomas of Andover. Patricia was the beloved friend of Jean Finocchio, Debbie Cabral, Theresa Lanzilli and Colleen Carlino.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Friday, January 10 followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with family from 8:30 through 10-30 AM in the funeral home. Interment will be private.
