Obituary

Carol-Ann Blackwood, 75, of Harrisville, died at home on Sunday, January 5, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Howard F. Blackwood. They had been married for 55 years.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Muriel (Lawson) Almeida. She had lived in Burrillville for the past 37 years and had previously lived in Greenville.

She had worked at the American Mathematical Society in Providence for 40 years before retiring.

Carol-Ann’s family was her pride and joy. Besides her husband she is survived by her children: Walter E. Blackwood and his wife Marla of Charlotte, NC and Rhonda E. Farrell and her husband William of Greenville, her five grandchildren: Nicholas, Joshua, and Jason Blackwood and Noah and Payton Farrell. She was the sister of Marcia Almeida (Ramero) of Riverside, Meledy Harris of East Providence, Ralph Ferra (Muriel) of North Smithfield, Joann Cullinane of Exeter, Robert Ferra (Cheryl) of Smithfield, Linda Brown (Richard) of North Providence, Michael Ferra (Kerri) of Cranston, and Barbara Ferra (Bruce) of Coventry. She was the loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings Candace Salvo, Frank Ferra, Joseph Ferra, and Ann Marie Stanley.

Her funeral will be held Friday at 11am in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family. Visitation Thursday 4-7pm.
