Obituary

Alice M. Bugbee, aged 90, of Norwich died on January 2, 2020. She was born February 18, 1929 in the Skungamaug area of Tolland, Connecticut to the parents of Erwin and Maude Mitchell. On April 13, 1946 she married Robert L Bugbee Sr.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert L. Bugbee Sr., her brother Erwin Mitchell, sister in law Betty Mitchell, son Robert L. Bugbee Jr. married to Pamela Hyland, her daughter Lisa M Bugbee, her grandson Jason L. Bugbee Jr, and her granddaughter Sophia Lynn Bugbee. She is survived by her brother Arthur Mitchell married to Louise Twarz. She is also survived by her children Ruth A. Vera married to Curt Vera, Jason L. Bugbee married to Diana M. Montgomery, Linda A. Salvaggio married to Bernard Salvaggio Jr. Also survived by 7 grandchildren: Casandra Kamens married to Curtis Johnston, Amanda M. Bugbee, Joseph Vera, Bernard Salvaggio III married to Laura Winters, Kimberly Berry Wolfe married to William Wolfe, Tami Berry Bordeau married to Joe Bordeau and Angela Savalaggio Klotz married to Daniel Klotz and 9 great grandchildren: Alex, Zachary, Bernard, Isaac, Olivia, Becker, Mason, William, and Marisa.

Throughout her life Alice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and worked in many jobs through her life. Her many vocations included a telephone Operator in the days of manual plugging connection, a Nurses Aid at Mansfield training School, Rockville Hospital, Head bookkeeper for Bugbee & Sons Plumbing and Heating, Book keeper for Park Row-way, Retail Clerk at Gingham Gate Fabric Store in Mystic. She was an avid traveler having visited over 30 states and extensively throughout Europe & the Caribbean.

She was also a longtime member of Ledyard Congregational Church, involved with the Ledyard fair, monthly pancake breakfast, Christmas bizarre, and the strawberry festival. She had a passion for cooking and baking, and loved to be surrounded by her family and friends.

Visiting hours are on Tuesday January 7th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday January 8th, at 11:00 also at the funeral home. Reception to follow at Lake of Isles.
