Obituary

Jerry “Raydean” Pitts, 88, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at his daughter’s residence in Chula. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2020, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Jack Perrin officiating. Mr. Pitts will be laid to rest at Union Grove Church of God Cemetery in Eldorado with the Rev. Larry Wiley officiating. The family will receive friends at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals on Saturday, January 4, 2020, from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of the service.

Mr. Pitts’ grandsons and Mark York will serve as pallbearers.

Born November 30, 1931 in Eldorado, Mr. Pitts was the son of the late Charlie Pitts and Beulah Nolen Pitts. He was also preceded in death by one son, Juan Pitts; three sisters, Wynell Newell, Ruby Nell Harper and Barbara Ann Pitts; three brothers, Clayton Pitts, Paul Pitts and James Pitts. He owned and operated Pitts Mobile Home Park in Tifton and was of the Church of God faith. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a lifetime member of the VFW. He loved playing his fiddle and guitar.

Mr. Pitts is survived by his wife, JoAnn Williams Boyd Pitts of Tifton; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Dwayne and Zaide Pitts of Leesburg and Jason Pitts of Albany; four daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Larry Stinson of Tifton, Sharon and Mike Free of Loganville, Audrey and Barry Franklin of Lilburn and Selena and David Athon of Chula; two step-sons, Bennett Boyd and Joe Boyd, both of Ty Ty; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Gereline and Gene Coburn of Albany, Beverly and Charles Cohurst of Clinton, Tennessee and Linda and Jim Smith of Dawson; twelve grandchildren, Vickie Flancher, Joe Stinson, Alex Justice, Brittany Justice, Ashton Pitts, Haley Franklin, Jordan Franklin, Danielle Franklin, Austin Pitts, Tyler Pitts, Coty Hogan and Scarlett Hogan; six great-grandchildren, Dawn Stinson, Grant Stinson, Erica Flancher, Waylon Flancher, Kenzie Daniels and Austin Justice; and one great-great granddaughter, Raylee Sutton.
