Anita (Fisher) Mahan, age 97, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2019 at Wingate of Springfield. She was born on September 2, 1922 in Chicopee, a daughter of the late Michael and Yvonne (Deschenes) Fisher. Anita was a Communicant of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church as well as belonged to the Pioneers for Telephone Co. and Toast Masters for New England Telephone Co. Anita worked as an administrator for New England Telephone Co. for many years before her retirement in 1980. She is predeceased by her loving husband John Mahan Jr. She is survived by her son John Mahan III and his wife Joanne of East Longmeadow; 3 daughters Joyce Blanchard of Wales, MA, Janice Klaus of Ft. Myers, Florida and Linda LaPlume of Georgia as well as a brother Paul Fisher of Oceanside, NY. She is predeceased by her brothers Norman Fisher and Harvey Fisher as well as a sister Yvette Anderson. Anita also leaves behind 14 Grandchildren, 33 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on the evening of Friday January 3, 2020 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home at 280 Springfield Street, Chicopee. A funeral Mass will be held at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church on January 4, 2019 at 12:00 PM with the burial immediately following at Cavalry Cemetery, Chicopee.
