Obituary


James E. Sheerin 56 years of Brockton died Sunday night at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center after a brief illness. He was the husband of Joni M. (Dodge) Sheerin and had been a resident of Brockton for the past 10 years. He was born in Taunton a son of the late James and Kathleen (Welch) Sheerin and was a graduate of Monsignor Coyle High School in Taunton.
Following his high school graduation he enlisted in the US Air Force and served two tours of duty in Viet Nam where he had received several medals and citations. He was discharged as a staff sergeant and then served in the US Army Reserves.
Most recently he had been employed in the Brockton VA Medical Center and previously worked for 15 years at Churchill Linen Company in Brockton.
Mr. Sheerin loved fishing, spending time with his family and watching all sports on television.
He had been a longtime communicant of St. Mary Church in Taunton.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three sons Jason Dodge of Fall River, Timothy Sheerin of Brockton, Patrick Sheerin of Fall River and a daughter Megan Sheerin of Brockton. His survived by a sister Joanne Vieira of Taunton and three grandchildren
Graveside services with military honors will be held Thursday at 10:30 am in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Arrangements by the Conley Funeral and Cremations Service in Brockton.
