WORCESTER___Anthony Bazikas, 86, of Worcester, died Friday January 27 in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.
His wife of 53 years, Blanche (Waiciulionis) Bazikas died January 7, 2001.
He leaves a son, Daniel A. Bazikas of Middleton, NH, a daughter, Dolores A. Bazikas of Wellfleet; a brother, Casimir Bazikas of Worcester and nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Kiskis. He was born in Worcester, son of John and Antoinette (Noujokaite) Bazikas and was raised in Lithuania. He returned to Worcester in 1937 and has lived here most of his life.
Mr. Bazikas was a wire drawer many years for Johnson Steel & Wire Co. and retired in 1984. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving as a Sergeant with the Army engineers in Africa, Italy, France and Germany. Mr. Bazikas was a member of St. Casimir Church and was a former member of Our Lady of Vilna Church. He was educated in Lithuania and was an avid gardener.
The funeral will be held on Thursday February 2 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 10 am in St. Casimir Church, 41 Providence St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 am Thursday morning in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701.
