Albert L. Gonyea,85, of 155 Ash St., died Friday, Jan. 27 at St.
Vincent Hospital in Worcester after an illness.
He was the husband of Florence D. (Conger) Gonyea who died in 1994. He
leaves his sister in law Alice M. Gonyea of Worcester and several nephews
and nieces. He is predeceased by his brother Arthur O. Gonyea of Worcester.
Mr. Gonyea was head storekeeper for the Worcester School Dept., where he
worked for 21 years, retiring in 1986. He was a Navy veteran of WWII &
Korea spending 20 years in the service.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of Peter and Aurore (Amyot) Gonyea. He
graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School in 1940. He was a member of Our
lady of the Rosary Church and the Worcester D.A.V. Post 4. An avid bowler he
bowled in several area leagues including the Retirees League at Auburn Ten
Pin.
The funeral will be held on Monday, Jan. 30 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON
FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of
the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow with Military
Honors in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will be
held on Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
