Anna J. Carpenter, “Blue Feather”, oldest member of the Mashantucket Western Pequot Tribal Nation, of Red Brook Estates, Ledyard, passed on to Glory on Sunday morning, January 29, 2006 at Mary Elizabeth Nursing Center in Mystic. She was 90.
She was born in Mystic on September 13, 1915 the daughter of Anna Henrietta Williams and Clarence Sebastian (both Mashantucket Western Pequot).
She was predeceased by her husband, Al Carpenter, also Pequot. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Marion Sebastian Curry “Red Feather”, Josephine Sebastian Wynn, Gertrude Sebastian Scruggs, Evelyn Sebastian, Jenny Sebastian, Gladys Sebastian, and her brothers, John Sebastian, Alfred Sebastian, and Benjamin Sebastian.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as many great nieces and nephews and severay great-great nieces and nephews.
Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Wednesday from 6-8pm. Her funeral service will be conducted at the Mashantucket Pequot Western Tribal Nation Spiritual Center, Shewville Road, on Thursday at 10am. Burial will follow at Whitehall Burial Ground, Mystic.
Donations in her memory may be made to a local ambulance service of fire department of the donor’s choice.
