Obituary

Robert F. “Bob” McGee, age 77, of Medford, formerly of Winchester, passed away on December 13, 2019. He was the beloved husband of 47 years to the late Paula (Daniels) McGee.
Born in Malden, MA, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (McNeil) McGee. Bob graduated from Winchester High School, and later attended Newbury College. He worked as a senior draftsman for Stone & Webster Engineering in Boston for over 25 years. Most recently, he worked as a realtor for Century 21 Advance in Medford.
Bob is survived by his children, Kristin M. Wasilewski and husband David of North Reading, and Alyssa J. McGee of Medford; and was the cherished grandfather of Matthew and Juliet Wasilewski. He was the dear brother of John “Jack” McGee and late wife Marguerite, Donald “Donny” McGee and wife Anne, Daniel “Danny” McGee and wife Janet, Mary O’Connor and husband Paul, all of FL, and the late Walter McGee. He was the brother-in-law of Bill and Mary O’Brien of Lynnfield, Elaine Graham of Somerville, Joan Daniels of Charlestown and the late Billy Daniels, He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
Bob was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren, and loved spending time with all of them. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching sports, golfing and fishing. He was a lifelong member of the Winchester Elks. Bob was also a passionate Boston College football fan and known for hosting legendary tailgates.
Bob had a terrific sense of humor and loved to tease those he cherished. He was quick with a joke and would often claim that Janis Joplin was singing about him in her famous song, “Me and Bobby McGee.”
Bob was extremely generous and giving of his time and would always go out of his way for a friend or a stranger in need. He will be missed dearly and loved forever.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather at the Costello Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 18th from 5-8PM, and again on Thursday, December 19th at 8AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester at 9AM. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Late veteran U.S. Navy. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to Tufts Medical Center, 800 Washington Street, Boston, MA 02111, www.tuftsmedicalcenter.org/give (Designation: Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy or The Cancer Center).
