Joseph B. Bouramia, 47, of Dartmouth died Saturday January 28, 2006 at the New Bedford Health Care Center after a brief illness. He was the husband of Sandra E. (Thomas) Bouramia.
Born in Jbeil Ehmej, Lebanon, the son of Boutros and Laurette (El-Hajj) Bouramia of Fairhaven, he moved to the United States in 1978 and lived in Dartmouth for many years.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Purgatory Church.
Mr. Bouramia was employed as a case worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance for the past 17 years.
He was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. He was an avid reader and traveler, and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife; his parents; three daughters, Ymane Bouramia, Nayla Bouramia, and Nadia Bouramia, all of Dartmouth; a son, Alex Bouramia of Dartmouth; a sister, Marie-Rose Bouramia of Fairhaven; two brothers, Edouard Bouramia of Lebanon and Jacques Bouramia of Vermont; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, throughout the United States, Canada, England, and Lebanon.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Thursday February 2, 2006 at 9 AM. Divine Liturgy at Our Lady of Purgatory Church at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday February 1, 2006 from 6-8 PM.
