Obituary


Charles A. "CB" Bevilacqua, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on Monday, November 25, 2019. Charlie was born in Woburn in 1930 and was the son of the late Charles E. and Ann (Paris) Bevilacqua. He joined the United States Navy Seabees in 1948. He would served with the Seabees construction battalion for 30 years, serving in Korea and Vietnam earning the rank of CWO4 (Chief Warrant Office Grade 4) Charlie was part of the construction crew that built the research bases at McMurdo Sound and at the South Pole in Antarctica and was promoted to Chief Builder for the original South Pole Station. CB`s amazing contributions to the establishment of US bases in Antarctica are truly inspiring as he played a significant role in establishing a US presence there more then 60 years ago.

Charlie was the dear brother of Albert Bevilacqua and wife Joanne. He was the loving Uncle to Michael Bevilacqua and Wife Christine and Amy Daltrui and Husband Matt. He was survived by many great nieces and nephews and cherished by many cousins.

A graveside memorial burial service with military honors will be held in the spring. Future notification covering service details will be posted in the Woburn Times prior to service. Arrangements by the McLaughlin – Dello Russo Funeral Service of Woburn.
