Herondina Conceicao Correia, 75

Dateline: Taunton, MA

Herondina Conceicao (Araujo-Sousa) Correia, age 75, of Taunton, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, December 6, 2019 at the Life Care Center in Raynham. She was the beloved wife of Antonio A. Correia, to whom she was wed for fifty-two years.

Born in Sao Miguel, Azores on November 25, 1944, she was a loving daughter of the late Joao Sousa and Maria DosSantos Araujo.

Herondina grew up and was educated in the Azores. In 1974, her family moved to Bermuda and in 1985 to Taunton, where she has made her home ever since.

Prior to retiring, Mrs. Correia had worked for many years as a Machine Operator at the Robertson Curtain Factory in Taunton and was previously employed at Avon Zatec in Raynham.

A communicant of Saint Anthony’s Church in Taunton, Herondina loved spending time with her grandchildren, baking and sewing. She will sadly be missed and always remembered as a kind person with a big heart, who unselfishly gave of herself to others.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her devoted children: Grace Wilson and her husband Richard of East Taunton, Zelia Brodeur and her husband Steven of Fall River, Paula Birge and her husband Aaron of Taunton and Tony Correia and his wife Jennifer of Raynham. She was the cherished grandmother of Mercedes and her husband Robert, Brandon, Amanda, Ronald, Andrew, Emma, Jocelyn, Matthew, Evan, Cameron, Benjamin and Chistopher and the great grandmother of Tatum. She was the dear sister of Manuel deSousa of Canada, Agostino Sousa of Canada, Maria Jose Correia of Taunton, Maria deDeus Borges of Canada and Maria deRosario Sousa of the Azores. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Her funeral mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Thursday, December 12th at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Anthony’s Church, 126 School Street, Taunton. Burial will follow at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.

Visiting hours are omitted and in lieu of flowers, Herondina’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 526, Dallas, Texas 75244.
