Rita L. (Powers) Williams, 90, of Leominster, formerly of New Bedford, passed away Wednesday December 4, 2019 at Keystone Center after a long battle with dementia.
Mrs. Williams was born Sept 22, 1929, in Somerville, MA a daughter of the late James and Ethel (Cromwell) Powers. She married Paul G. Williams on August 19, 1950 in New Bedford.
She is survived by her husband Paul; her daughter, Melissa (Williams) Ellis of New Bedford; her son Paul G. Williams, Jr. and wife Thao of Leominster; her grandchildren, Rebecca (Ellis) Goldblatt and husband Jeremy of New Bedford, Ashley Williams Truong of Ayer, and Taylor R. Williams of Leominster; her sister, Patricia Hubright of New Bedford; and many nieces and nephews.
She was sister of the late Elizabeth Chace, Bernice Calnan, and Marjorie Nerpouni, who passed away on December 8th.
A lifelong resident of the New Bedford area, Rita devoted most of her time to family. She worked as a supervisor for Vanity Fair and retired in 1995. She loved the New Bedford area, playing bingo and spending time with family and friends.
Rita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother, and friend. She will be missed by those she touched in life.
The funeral service for Rita and her sister Marjorie will be held on Friday December 13, 2019 at 11:30 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
