Marjorie P. (Powers) Nerpouni, 94, of New Bedford passed away Sunday December 8, 2019 at Boston Medical Center. She was the loving and faithful wife of the late Samuel Nerpouni. They had been married for thirty-nine years at the time of his death in 2009.
Born in Somerville, the loving daughter of the late James and Ethel (Cromwell) Powers, she moved to New Bedford at an early age and was educated in the New Bedford Public School system.
Marjorie worked for the Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P) as a bookkeeper and head cashier for thirty-five years. After retiring, she lived in Chelmsford where she worked as manager of Diamond Jewelry in Chelmsford and Westford. In 2003, Marjorie and Sam returned to New Bedford to be closer to her family.
She is survived by her sister, Patricia Hubright of New Bedford; and many loving nieces and nephews, including her special nieces and nephew, Beth McCadden, Colleen Calnan, and Paul G. Williams, Jr.
She was the sister of the late Elizabeth Chace, Bernice Calnan, and Rita Williams, who passed away on December 4th.
The funeral service for Marjorie and her sister Rita will be held on Friday December 13, 2019 at 11:30 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM prior to the service. A burial service for Marjorie will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery on Saturday December 14, 2019 at 11 AM.
