Obituary

WORCESTER___Alice R. (Roberge) Soucy, of Worcester, died peacefully on Saturday, January 28 at University Commons at the age of 102.

She was born on December 2, 1903 in Manchester, NH, the daughter of the late Thomas Roberge and Clemence(Pratt) Roberge. Mrs. Soucy was united in marriage to the love of her life, William L. Soucy, Sr. on August 16, 1922 in Worcester. Mr. Soucy passed away on January 4, 1969. Mrs. Soucy was raised in Chatierville, Canada and lived in Manchester, NH, New Britain, CT, and moved to Worcester in 1937 where she raised her family. Mrs. Soucy was a dedicated homemaker, avid reader, accomplished seamstress and cook. She was an active member of St. Joseph’s Church in Worcester until the time of her death.

Mrs. Soucy is survived by seven children, Leon of Sarasota, FL, Gerald and his wife Dorise of Auburn, William Jr. of Oxford; Robert and his wife Camille of Worcester; Joan and her husband Alan Heims of Ft. Bragg, CA, Florianne Shevchuk of Worcester and Monica Sobolewski of East Providence, RI. She is also survived by 29 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by her daughter, Delores Lessard, two granddaughters, Wendy Soucy and Sharon Ferguson , a grandson, Scot Soucy and eleven brothers and sisters.

The funeral will be held on Monday January 30 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 10 am in St. Joseph Church, 35 Hamilton St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are today, Sunday January 29 from 4 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church Renovation Fund, 5 Whitman Rd, Worcester, MA 01609
