Obituary


Antoinette M. Mahoney, of Medford formerly of Malden, passed away peacefully, Thursday, December 5, 2019, following a lengthy period of declining health. She was 80 years of age. Antoinette was the beloved wife of the late Joseph E. Mahoney. Born in Malden she was one of seven children of the late Carmen and Carmela (Sacchetti) Cardarelli.

Antoinette was raised and educated in Malden where she was a 1956 graduate of Girls Catholic High School. A devoted wife and mother, Antoinette's main focus in life was her family and her strong Catholic faith. For many years Antoinette worked and volunteered at St. Anthony Church in Revere and St. Peter Church in Malden. Antoinette was also most active at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Medford where she volunteered with many church functions, served as a Lector and was a Past President of the Mother's Club.

Antoinette enjoyed traveling and spending time with her friends and family. She especially enjoyed getting together with friends on Saturday nights and going out for dinner at several local restaurants that they regularly frequented over the years. Antoinette will be fondly remembered for her devotion to her family, friends and her many hours of volunteering and charitable work. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

She is lovingly survived by her sons, Joseph E. Mahoney, Jr. and his wife Tracy of Stoneham, Charles H. Mahoney and his wife Stephanie of Tewksbury. She was the loving grandmother of Lindsey and her husband Paul Vogt, Allie, Casey, Rachel and Abby Mahoney. Cherished sister of Pauline McGurin and her husband Richard of Stoneham, John Cardarelli and his wife Corinne of Malden, the late Gerard Cardarelli and his surviving wife Teresa of Medford, the late Joseph Cardarelli and his surviving wife Nina of Revere, the late Donna Pitts and her surviving husband Henry of Malden, the late Tina Zampitella and her husband Richard. She is further survived by several loving in-laws, many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Tuesday, December 10th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Antoinette's memory to the Alzheimer's Association MA/NH, 2020 Marathon, c/o Allie Mahoney, 21 Cleveland Place unit 7, Boston, MA 02113
