Jacqueline Rose
“Jackie” ~ Age 84
Passed away December 5, 2019

On the 4th day of January 1935 Dorthea and Alfred Fritz had their third child Jacqueline Rose (Jackie). Jackie was described by her Aunt as a cute little “butterball” with brown eyes like her father, curly hair like her mother and dimpled chin just like her Grandma Fritz. Jackie grew up on St. Paul’s East Side on Lower Afton Road (later to become London Lane) with her older brother Bud and Sister Marlene, and younger sisters Bonnie and Becky. Even as a young girl Jackie was fun loving and a very hard worker with a good head for business. Her many freckles and persistent smile added charm to her outgoing personality.

Jackie attended Taylor Elementary School which was a 4 room school house for 1st through 8th grade. She walked 1-1/2 miles cross country, in the cold, and through the snow to get to school without a cell phone. When Jackie would talk about this (when I was a kid) I smiled because it always ended with uphill both ways. Alfred built a big barn where they raised thousands of chickens. Jackie carried 100 lb. sacks of feed up the stairs to the second floor of the barn to feed the chickens. They butchered the chickens and took them to the St. Paul market in a Coca Cola cooler to sell them. Jackie worked hard, was strong, and was proud of it. Her fun loving, industrious and hardworking spirit would never be tempered.

After graduating from Harding High School she became a secretary for the state of MN at the capital. Jackie had the travel lust but had to be 21 to travel abroad for the military. At 21 years of age Jackie applied for a secretary position at Anderson Airforce Base on Guam. She passed the test and in 1956 was headed to Guam. She spent 18 month in Guam and made many lasting memories.

Jackie loved traveling, fishing, hunting, boating, canoeing, hiking, and ice cream, but most of all she loved her husband Bob. The two were inseparable. Throughout their nearly 60 years of marriage they both worked and played together. If one got stuck the other was always there to pull them out.

Survived by loving husband Robert "Bob"; son Roger (Sherri); grandchildren Courtney & Cameron; sisters Bonnie Swanson & Becky Lokrantz; many other family & friends. Preceded in death by parents Alfred & Dorothea Fritz; sister Marlene Westergren; brother Bud Fritz. Funeral Service Tuesday (12/10) 1:00 PM at SANDBERG FUNERAL HOME, 2593 E. 7th Ave., North St. Paul, with visitation one hour prior to Service. Interment Union Cemetery.
