Melissa M. Lopes, 19, of Acushnet died January 27, 2006 unexpectedly at Rhode Island Hospital due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of Joe M. and Zelia J. (Silva) Lopes, she lived in Fairhaven before moving to Acushnet 3 years ago.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Fairhaven.
Melissa was employed by her family business, Joe Lopes Landscaping, and also at Fashion Bug.
She enjoyed dancing, music and spending time with her niece, nephews and friends
Survivors include her parents; a sister, Sue Brown, and her husband, Stephen, of Acushnet; a niece, Allison Brown; 2 nephews, Ryan Brown and Andrew Brown; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, Fairhaven Wednesday, February 1st at 11 AM, followed by burial in Riverside Cemetery.
Visiting hours at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Tuesday, January 31st from 5-8 PM.
