Funeral Service in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday at 11am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting Hours Monday 4-7pm.
Obituary Information
Harold E. Shumway died Wednesday at Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief illness. Born in New Bedford, son of the late Myron and Daisy (Hartwell) Shumway. He had been a resident of Brockton for over 30 years, previously living in Whitman. For many years he had been employed by Keylock Company in Waltham where he patented a screw that is used on the United States Space Shuttle. Harold was one of the founding members and the oldest member of the Hanson AA, and a member of the Massachusetts National Guard. He enjoyed time spent at his summer home in Plymouth and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening.
He is survived by his wife Marie A. (Metta) (Lupica) Shumway, two stepdaughters, Janice Raposa of West Bridgewater and Rosanne Kasper of Brockton, and three grandchildren Christopher E. Raposa, Michael Kasper and Lisa Braney and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Eva and Alan Shumway.
