Obituary

Salem: Walter Samolchuk age 83 of Salem died suddenly Friday at the NSMC / Salem Hospital. He was the husband of Rita (Michaud) Samolchuk, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Harry and Katherine (Bik) Samolchuk. A veteran of W.W. II, he served with the United States Coast Guard. He was at one time employed by First National Food Stores in Salem. At the time of his retirement in 1984, Mr. Samolchuk had been employed by the Atwood & Morrill Co., of Salem for 27 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 daughters: Judy A. Sanphy and her husband Jake of Peabody, Donna M. Johnson and her husband Alan of Woodstock, CT, Diane M. O’Brien and her husband Ted of Epping, NH, a sister: Christine Caron of Salem 8 grandchildren: Jay Sanphy of Hampton, NH, Sheryl Sanphy of Kihei, HI, Amy Johnson of N.Y.C., Natalie, Eric & Lauren Johnson of Woodstock, CT, Patrick O’Brien of Epping, NH & Adam O’Brien of Sonoma, CA, 2 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral on Monday (January 30th) at 8 am from the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., Salem [Rt. 114 / 1-A] followed by his funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Salem at 9 am. Visiting hours: Sunday 2 to 6 pm. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
