Jo Ann Coker Rutland, age 79, of Tifton, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2019. Jo Ann was born in Colquitt County on June 6, 1940 to Charlie and Luell Coker.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Jo Ann especially loved her great-grandchildren and treasured the special times she spent with them.
Her favorite hobbies were playing the piano and crocheting. Each piece that she crocheted was done with someone special in mind. She loved to see the happiness that it brought to her family and the people she loved. Time spent with her family was most important to her. Some of her favorite moments were spent in the kitchen with her daughter and granddaughters cooking and making jelly. She enjoyed traveling, especially to see her sister’s family in Virginia. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Tifton, where she enjoyed singing with the Senior Adult Choir.
Jo Ann is lovingly remembered and survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tonita and Ricky Moore of Lenox; one son and daughter in law, Greg and Kim Rutland of Tifton; her grandchildren are Broc (Lyndsay) Moore, Whitney (Brett) Tomlinson, Emily(Tyler) Sumner, Buck (Mikelyn) Moore, Kyle (Maria) Rutland, Ryan (Meredith) Rutland, Alex (Matthew) Robinson and Ross Rutland. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, four brothers-in-law and their wives, and special nephews and nieces, who were like sons and daughters to her, and their families.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Charlie and Luel Coker of Lenox, GA and one sister and brother-in-law, Margorie and Hubert Martin of Fincastle, VA.
A graveside service will be held at Lenox Cemetery on Saturday, November 30, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Wayne Roe, Weldon Martin and Johnny Rutland officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2019, at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Jo Ann’s grandsons, Broc Moore, Buck Moore, Tyler Sumner, Brett Tomlinson, Kyle Rutland, Ryan Rutland and Ross Rutland will serve as pallbearers.
