Mrs. Mary Gitt (Fox) Read, 77, of 186 Jerry Browne Road, Stoneridge, Mystic, died Thursday at The Westerly Hospital.
Mrs. Read was born in York, PA on August 10, 1928 the daughter of Louis and Helen (Gitt) Fox. She attended Bishop Strong School, Endicott Junior College, and later the University of Toronto.
She was married to Michael D. Read in York on June 23, 1950. They enjoyed over 55years of marriage.
A former resident of Stonington, she was a member of Calvary Church and the Stonington Garden Club. She was also a former resident of Rosemont, PA.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Read is survived by her sons, Michael D. Read Jr. and his wife Delila of Kauai, Hawaii and Philip F. Read of Mystic; two grandchildren, Michelle and Stephanie and a sister, Anne Hayes of Radnor, PA.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at Calvary Church, Stonington on Tuesday at 10am. The Rev. Mark K.J. Robinson will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Memorial Garden.
