LUDLOW – Doris M. (Gonthier) Hayward, 71, a longtime resident of Ludlow, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, November 21, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on August 19, 1948, a beloved daughter of the late Leandre and Jeanne Léa (Picard) Gonthier. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from the former Cathedral High School and lived in Springfield for many years before moving to Ludlow in 2000. Doris furthered her education and graduated from STCC where she received an Associate’s Degree in Physical Therapy. She was employed for over 43 years as a Physical Therapist at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield and also worked part-time for Trinity Health Care. She was a communicant of the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Springfield. During her leisure time, she enjoyed reading and cooking wonderful dinners for her family and friends. Most of all, she was a loving, mother and mémère to her children and grandchildren. She loved playing “Grandma Uber” for her cherished grandchildren. She leaves her three loving children, Courtney A. Langieri and her husband, Stephen, of Longmeadow, Rebecca L. Hayward of Springfield and Justin W. Hayward and his fiancée, Christine Filiau, of Springfield; her two cherished grandchildren, Michael Philip Langieri and Léa Rose Langieri; her two dear sisters, Lisa Selby and her husband, Jeffrey; and Claire Landry, all of Severna Park, MD; her five dear nieces, Kim Gauthier, Jennifer Dean and her husband, John, Melissa Wienk and her husband, Chris, Jill Landry and Skyelynn Landry; and her dear uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins and numerous friends.
