TEWKSBURY – Nilza died peacefully on Sunday night, November 17, with her family at her side, at Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. She was the beloved wife of Didio M. De Lemos, with whom she had celebrated a twentieth wedding anniversary this past September.
Nilza was born in Corumbaiba, Goias, Brazil on November 12, 1936, one of eight children of the late Joao Ferreira Gomes (Joao Querubino) and Maria Cardoso Naves, and raised in Brazil. She emigrated to the U.S. in 1999, and had lived in Somerville and Medford before moving to Tewksbury in 2016.
Besides her husband, she leaves a son Giovani A. Ferreira and in memoriam, his late wife Karla Costa of Anapolis, of Brazil; a daughter, Giovana A. Ferreira and her husband Sergio M. Lemos of Tewksbury, with whom she resided; three adored grandchildren, Kamila, Fatima, and Elysia; seven siblings, all living in Brazil, Divino Ferreira Gomes and his wife Ana, Adalcino Ferreira Gomes and his ex-wives Maria do Rosário and Leidemilde, Sebastiao Ferreira Gomes and his wife Edeutraudes, Anita Ferreira Xavier Nunes and in memoriam, her late husband Antonio, Lenim Ferreira Gomes and his wife Verginia, Prestes Ferreira Gomes and his wife Alzira, Carlos Prestes Ferreira and his wife Lazara, Wagner Ferreira Gomes and his wife Maria Neuza; and numerous godchildren, nieces and nephews.
Memorial Visiting Hours are Saturday, November 23 of 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. followed by Prayers at 3:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts.
