Obituary

Ida E. DiTomasso, 91, of Oregon Avenue, North Providence passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, November 17th in the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. She was the wife of the late John V. DiTomasso. They had been married 66 years.
She was born in Providence, and was the daughter of the late Carmino and Emma DeMarco. She had lived in North Providence for 65 years. Many knew her as the hostess at My Father’s Pub in North Providence where she enjoyed working with her brother Ralph and her nephews and niece.
A religious person, she was a member of St Augustine’s parish for many years and upon moving she became a member of St Lawrence parish where she taught line dancing to the parishioners. After the closing of St Lawrence she came back to St Augustine’s for her final years.
Ida had so much goodness, so much capacity to bring happiness to others. Her family felt truly blessed to have had her in their lives. She was one of a kind. She was the most cheerful, positive, energetic, resilient, loving and strong women you could ever hope to meet. Her strength was very inspiring to all those around her. After a near fatal accident, many years ago, she fought an unbelievable battle back to health. She wasn’t done being there for her family.
She playfully referred to herself as Mrs. Fix It. If someone was struggling with a problem she was going to do anything she could to fix it for you. She was deeply loved by all her family.
Also, she left behind a heck of a lot of stuff to her son and daughter who have no idea what to do with it.
She leaves her children, John DiTomasso and his wife Karen of Greenville and Mary Ann Paquin of North Providence. She was the Grandmother of Lindsey and Kara DiTomasso and Shannon Manning. She was the sister of Carmino DeMarco of Bradenton, FL. She was the sister of the late Mary DiTomasso, Ralph DeMarco and Emily Meyer.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, November 23rd at 8:45am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Visitation Friday from 4-7pm. Buriall will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. If desired donations may be made to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02908
