Obituary

CHICOPEE – Anne M. (Cote) Smith, 75, of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, November 18, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Van Buren, Maine on May 25, 1944, a daughter of the late Noel and Germaine (Pelletier) Cote. Her early years were spent in Maine and at a young age her family moved to Springfield where she lived for many years before moving to Chicopee Falls in 2004. She was predeceased by her husband, John H. Smith who was Called Home on May 18, 1998; and her beloved daughter, Kathleine M. “Kathy” (Smith) Slowik who was Called Home on June 25, 2014. She leaves her loving daughter, Constance M. “Connie” Brassard and her husband, Phillip, of Chicopee; her loving son, Thomas P. Smith of Ludlow; her four cherished grandchildren, Brittney Purselley and her husband, Matthew, Kelie Smith, Cassie Smith and Nicole Makayla Leclair and her husband, Daniel; her two cherished great-grandchildren, Haley and Payton Purselley; her three brothers, Daniel Cote, Roger Cote and his wife, Merlita, and Ronald Cote; her two sisters, Jeannette Helling and Helene Miller; and her many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Smith and Cote families. Anne will also be deeply missed by her faithful and loving “grand-dog”, Kelly. Besides her husband and daughter, she was predeceased by her sister and brother, Lorraine Cote and Robert Cote. Her family will receive friends on Sunday, November 24, 2019 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, which will be followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 4:30 p.m. in the funeral home. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Springfield Unit, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
