Eugene Ernest Crum, 85, of Tifton, formerly of Athens, died Thursday, January 26, 2006 at Tift Regional Medical Center. Services will be in Athens at the Evergreen Memorial Park mausoleum at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2006. Rev. Mark Fite will officiate. Bernstein Funeral Home in Athens is in charge of arrangements.
Born July 26, 1920 in Seymour, IN, he was the son of the late Ernest Lincoln Crum and Clara Elizabeth Pollert Crum. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lois "Betty" Wesner Crum and son, Roger Eugene Crum. He served in the Army-Air Force during World War II as a decorated officer in the South Pacific. He was retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons as an Associate Warden and was a Master Mason in the Jackson County, IN Lodge, having received the Award of Gold.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Kathryn Crum of Tifton; one daughter, Mary Jeanne Crum of Pace, FL; one grandson, Gregory Crum and wife Kimberly of Bethlehem, GA; one granddaughter, Jennifer Crum Smith and husband Benjamin of Winterville, GA; and two great granddaughters, Avrie Elizabeth Crum and Sophie Margaret Crum of Bethlehem, GA.
