Justa Melendez (78) of Brockton died November 15th in the Good Samaritan Medical Center. She was the widow of the late Marcial Melendez.
She was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico daughter of the late Alfonso Figueroa and Joaquina Rodriguez and was a stitcher in the clothing industry. Justa was the matriarch of the family and was known for her kindness and great cooking.
Survivors include 2 sons, Marcial and wife Michelle Melendez of Marshfield, Jose and wife Andrea Melendez of Brockton, her daughter Myriam and husband Jose Mendes of Brockton, 16 grand and 20 great grandchildren, 4 brothers, Carlos Figueroa of Brockton, Ruben, Juan and Luis Figueroa all of Puerto Rico, 6 sisters, Ana and Felicia Figueroa both of Brockton, Maria Figueroa and Ada Vasquez both of Lawrence, Antonia Figueroa of Florida and Theresa Figueroa of Puerto Rico.
Services from the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel 238 Court Street Brockton Friday November 22nd at 11 am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Patrick's Church 335 Main Street Brockton at 12 Noon. Burial will follow in the Family Lot in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation in the Funeral Home Thursday November 21st from 5-8 pm.
