SPRINGFIELD ~ Theresa Ann (Lyons) Hill, age 90, of Springfield, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, November 9, 2019. She was born to the late Cornelius Lyons and Hannah (Sullivan) Lyons on August 18, 1929. Theresa was raised and educated in Springfield and lived in Springfield her entire life, and was a life-time member of Sacred Heart Church. Family and friends were Theresa’s love and delight, especially her grandchildren. Theresa was an avid reader, Red Sox fan, and lover of all things Irish. She married the love of her life, Charles Alexander Hill, in 1948 and together they raised three children. Theresa will be deeply missed by Charles, her husband of 72 years, her son Thomas Charles, her daughters-in-law, five grandchildren; and a number of other loving relatives and close friends. In addition to her parents and siblings, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Theresa Hill, and her son, John Patrick Hill. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last days. Her funeral will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her Committal Service will follow the Mass at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, November 14, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Theresa’s parish was a big part of her heart, therefore her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Sacred Heart Church Renovation Fund, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
