WORCESTER: Anita L. (Rucker) Powell, 70, died Tuesday evening, November 5, 2019 at UMass Memorial Medical Center - Memorial Campus, after a brief illness.
She leaves her husband of 53 years, Glen W. Powell; six children, Glen W. Powell, Jr., Sergio E. Powell, Alexander L. Powell, Jeramy Powell, Marian-Anais Powell and Johnathan L. Powell; two sisters, Deborah Barbosa and Florence Rucker; two brothers, Ernest Correia and Wayne Rucker; 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. A sister, Marjorie Rucker and a brother, Walter Rucker, both predeceased her.
She was born in Boston, daughter of the late Ernest and Marion (Correia) Rucker
and was a graduate of Newbury Community College. She lived in Worcester since 2005.
Anita worked at Bell South Telephone Company for several years. She loved music, reading and playing scrabble. She enjoyed spending holidays with her family and will be remembered for her conflict resolution skills.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family from 12 P.M to 2 P.M. on SATURDAY, NOV. 16th at KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln ST., Worcester, immediately followed by a Celebration of Anita’s Life at 2 P.M. in the funeral home.
A Burial Service will be held at 2 P..M on MONDAY, NOV. 18th at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon, MA.
