Obituary

SOUTH HADLEY ~ Don E. Lussier, 69, of South Hadley, was Called Home on Thursday, November 7, 2019. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family following complications from cardiac surgery. He was born in Springfield on January 5, 1950, a beloved son of the late Paul and Dorothy C. (Bellefeuille) Lussier. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee High School and had moved to South Hadley in 1971 where he resided the remainder of his life. He furthered his education and received Associate Degrees in Electrical Engineering and Drafting from Springfield Technical Community College. He was employed as a Fire Alarm Technician for 18 years at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and retired in 2015. During his leisure time, Don enjoyed woodworking, refinishing and fixing clocks, going to the movies with his son often and practicing archery with his granddaughter. An avid car enthusiast, he was a member of the Pioneer Valley Chapter of The GTO Club and was often seen driving around town and visiting many car shows with his award-winning Orbit Orange 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe Hot Rod. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his beloved wife, Marcia A. (Pulaski) Lussier; his two loving children, Jeffrey D. Lussier and his wife, Gretchen, of South Hadley and Angela M. Lussier of Holyoke; his two loving step-daughters, Janessa N. Daniels and her companion, Leo Mammarella, of South Hadley and Jillian S. Daniels of Northampton; his three cherished grandchildren, Alyssa Lussier, Grant Lussier and Max Moore; his brother, Gary Lussier and his wife, Julie, of South Hadley; his nephew, Brian Lussier; and his niece, Natalie Lussier. He will also be deeply missed by his canine companion, Bijou. His relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, November 15, 2019 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. which will be followed by a 7 p.m. Prayer Service at LifePoint Church, 603 New Ludlow Road, Chicopee, MA 01020. Don’s wishes were to be cremated and his family has entrusted the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 with his arrangements.
