Dorothy L. Pogonowski, 93, of Indian Trail, Coventry, passed away on Friday November 1, 2019, surrounded by her family at the Hope Hospice Center in Providence. She was the wife of the late John A. Pogonowski. They had been married for 62 years.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Ralph and Madeline (DeMars) Olney. She had lived in Coventry previously living in Providence. Dorothy was an LPN for Dr. Francis Sargent and Dr. Michael Rosenberg before retiring. She was an AARP member and volunteered as a Tax Aide with AARP during tax season. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her family. She was a member of Paine House in Coventry and a member of the Ladies Guild at St. Vincent de Paul Church and a member of the Johnson’s Pond Civic Association.
She leaves her daughters, Carol A. Izzard of Greenville and Joan D. Grenga and her husband Frank of North Providence. She was the grandmother of Robert Reilly, Roxanne Santos, Russ Reilly and J. Barry Grenga and the late F. Scott Grenga. She was the great-grandmother of Brandon and Jordan Reilly, Joshua and Joseph Santos, Aleksander and Padraic Reilly. She was the sister of Barbara Leclerc of West Warwick and Lorraine Dowoit of West Warwick. Sister in law of Marguerite Onley of North Scituate. Sister of the late Ralph Onley, Jr. and mother-in-law of the late Norman Izzard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10am in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 6 St Vincent De Paul St, Coventry, RI. Burial will be in Highland Park Johnston. Visitation Monday 4-7pm in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville.
