C. WARREN LINCOLN, 92,a lifelong resident of Hingham and retired Chief of the Hingham Fire Department, died on Tuesday, Jan. 24th at the Cohasset Knoll Nursing Home in Cohasset after a long illness. He was born in Hingham and graduated from Hingham High School. Chief Lincoln was long associated with the Hingham Fire Deparment; first as a volunteer and then was appointed to the Board of Fire Engineers in 1935. In 1941 he became a permanent member of the department and rose through the ranks, serving as chief for the last five years of his career, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the Massachusetts Association of Fire Chiefs and the New England Association of Fire Chiefs. He was a longtime member of the Hingham Rotary Club and also the Old Colony Masonic Lodge of Hingham of which he served as treasurer for many years.
Husband of the late Meda B. (Crawford) Lincoln, he was the father of Donald W. Lincoln of Hingham, Robert W. Lincoln of Londonderry, NH, Wendall A. Lincoln of Hales Location, NH, Shirley A. Lang of Piermont, NH and Alan C. Lincoln of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Brother of Evelyn L. Crossman of Merritt Island, FL and the late Rodger W. Lincoln. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, Jan. 28th at 11 AM at the Second Parish Church, 685 Main St. (Rt. 228), Hingham.
Friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Friday from 3-7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Bare Cove Fire Museum, P.O. Box 262, Hingham, MA 02043.
The interment is to be private.
