Obituary

Delphine B. "Del" (Brown) Lanagan, 94, formerly of Fairhaven, died July 4, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.

She was the wife of the late James B. Lanagan,and daughter of the late Antone and Sylvena (Sylvia) Brown.

Mrs. Lanagan was born in Fairhaven and lived in Fairhaven for most of her life before moving to her daughter's home in Acushnet 7 years ago.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Fairhaven. She was the first female Eucharistic minister and she and her late husband were the first presidents of the St. Joseph's Couples Club.

Mrs. Lanagan was formerly employed as Assistant Town Clerk, Assistant Town Treasurer and Registrar of Voters for the Town of Fairhaven for many years until her retirement. She was very active in town government.

She was an outstanding athlete at Fairhaven High School and an avid sports fan.

Survivors include 2 sons, James B. Lanagan, Jr., and his wife Geraldine, of Mattapoisett and John B. Lanagan, and his wife Suzanne, of Raynham; 3 daughters, Mary Beth Williams, and her husband Richard E., of Fairhaven, Martha L. Palmer, and her husband Charles, of Beverly, MA and Elizabeth Rivet, and her husband Albert, of Acushnet; 26 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews

She was the sister of the late Aldena Davis.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett Saturday, July 6th at 8:45 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Visiting hours Friday, July 5th from 4-8 PM.

Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, New Bedford.
