Obituary

Margaret M. "Peg" (Casey) Fanning, a 62 year resident of Medford and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life suddenly on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 81 years of age.

Peg was born in Boston on June 11, 1938, a daughter of the late John Casey and Elizabeth (Murray) Casey. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1957. Peg was a homemaker most of her adult life where she dedicated herself and took great pride in caring for her husband and 5 children and their families. She was always especially very proud of her 8 grandchildren and their accomplishments and adored her very special great-grandson. Peg had been involved with the CCD program at Immaculate Conception Church in Malden and enjoyed volunteering with the Medford Girls Scouts and Boy Scouts and also Medford Little League with her late husband.

Peg is the beloved wife of the late Joseph D. Fanning. She is the devoted mother of Michael Fanning and his wife Cheri of North Grafton, John Fanning and his wife Michelle of East Boston, Patrick Fanning and his wife Maureen of Tewksbury, Kathleen Fanning and her husband Joseph Simpler of Medford and Joseph Fanning of Medford. She is the loving Nana to Joseph, Kelli, Katelynn, Meghan, Casey, Leah, Ashleigh, Patrick and her great-grandson Devin. She is the beloved sister of John Casey and his wife Lucille and the late Ellen Allen, Thomas Casey, Mary Shea, Elizabeth McCarvell, Fran O'Reilly and Kay Cremens. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Peg's Funeral on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 10 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St. Malden at 11:30 A.M. Her burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Her visiting hours will be on Friday, November 1, 2019 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
