Betty Sue Jones
Betty Sue Jones passed away Saturday evening, October 26, 2019, surrounded by her family. Her celebration of life will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at 11:00 am at Northside Baptist Church where she was an active church member since 1959. Burial will follow the service at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 5:30 – 8:00 at her home on 8th Street.
Betty Sue was born on the family farm in Sumter County, Georgia, on February 21, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Ruel Lester and Connie Mae Jones Bradley. She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Royce A. Jones. Royce and Betty Sue started their lives together in Tift County in 1959. She was a dedicated homemaker serving throughout her life as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She created a welcoming home and sharing kitchen for 60 years. Her ministry in life was to provide for and serve all that came her way.
Betty Sue is survived by one daughter and three sons, Dwight and Joni Jones Dunn of Tifton, Jason Jones and Scott Brandis, life partners of Athens, Georgia, Jeremy and Cheryl Jones of Tifton, and Jonathan and Betsy Jones of Tifton. Her eight grandchildren are Rollins and Deidra Dunn Jackson, Silas and Jillian Dunn Peed, Austin Dunn, Ryan and Julee Beth Dunn Moore, Joshua Jones, Will Jones, Becca Jones, and Hays Jones. Her six great-grandchildren are Madeline and Royce Britton Jackson, Si, Bo, and Hank Peed, and Maggie Sue Moore.
She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Ruel Lester Bradley, Jr. and James Gordon Bradley.
She leaves behind many dear lifelong friends in the Tifton community.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts can be made to Northside Baptist Church Building Fund or a charity of your choice.
Serving as pallbearers will be Glenn Bradley, Ruell Bradley, Ben Strickland, Roger Watson, Mark Thompson, Glenn Willis, and Rod Nichols.
