Obituary

HADLEY – Doris C. (Coulombe) Chapdelaine, 90, of Hadley and a former longtime resident of Chapel Street in the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, October 17, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on December 28, 1928, the beloved daughter of the late Hector A. and Ora B. (Parent) Coulombe. She was raised in Chicopee Falls, graduated Chicopee schools and later lived in Aldenville for many years before moving to Hadley in 1993. While summer residents in Chatham, MA for 26 years, she was the longtime owner and operator of Chapdelaine Antiques in Chatham. Doris was a “bingo fanatic” and was always ready to meet up with her many bingo friends for a good game. During her younger years, she was a well-known seamstress and during her leisure time loved painting, attending art classes and made many wedding cakes. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and also was a den mother for the Aldenville Boy Scouts. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Roger Chapdelaine. They were married on November 12, 1949 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 69 years of happiness together. She also leaves her four loving children, Roger E. Chapdelaine and his wife, Kathleen, of West Springfield, Carol A. Dubilo of Springfield, Linda M. Corsi and her husband, Carl, of Three Rivers and Donna M. Connolly of West Springfield; her eight cherished grandchildren who will miss their “Grammy”, Mark Chapdelaine and his wife, Laura, Michael Chapdelaine and his wife, Kara, Tara Traw and her husband, Michael, Adam Dubilo and his wife, Jennifer, Craig and Connor Corsi, Matthew Connolly and his wife, Kristen, and Christopher Connolly and his wife, Jayme; her 14 cherished great-grandchildren, Ryan and Christian Chapdelaine, Aiden and Anna Chapdelaine, Kathryn, Beatta, Jesse, Joseph, Benjamin and Timrek Traw, Skyylar and Gavin Dubilo and Miles and Liam Connolly; her dear brother-in-law, Richard Chapdelaine and his wife, Claire, of Chicopee; her dear sister-in-law, Claire Safarik and her husband, Jack, of West Springfield; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the family. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2019 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private at Sainte Rose Cemetery in Chicopee. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
