Joaquim "Jack" Lopes, 95 of New Bedford died October 15, 2019 at Sacred Heart Home.
He was the husband of the late Virginia R. "Nancy" (Silva) Lopes.
Born in Fall River, the son of the late Antonio and Mecaela (Rozario) Lopes, he lived in Dartmouth most of his life.
Mr. Lopes was formerly employed by U Mass Dartmouth as a boiler plant supervisor for 20 years until retirement.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his 2 sons, David Lopes and his partner Jerry Jeffkin of Peabody and Robert Lopes, and his wife Nelia, of Dartmouth; 2 daughters, Kathleen Lopes of Dartmouth and Mary Ann Rogers and her husband Edward of New Bedford; a brother, Antone Lopes, Jr; 2 sisters, Mary Mendes and Hilda Correia; 3 grandchildren, Tiffani and Mecaela Rogers and Joey Soares and his wife Meghan; several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be held on Saturday, October 19th at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday, October 18th from 3-7 PM.
